There can be a clear cut between training and exhibitions, because training can go without exhibitions, but not vice versa: a Rottweiler dog cannot take part in any exhibitions if not properly trained. That is why these two segments are of high importance in Fere Perfectum German Rottweiler dog kennel.
Training
Rottweiler training consists of a set of factors, which cannot go one without the other. It includes the human factor, socialisation of puppies, training techniques, long-term goals, and many, many more. Here we will try explaining the most prominent ones.
Expert trainers
Of the seven team members we mentioned in About us, Slaviša and Marina are the most important ones for the Rottweiler training process here at Fere Perfectum dog kennel.
Slaviša used to work as a police dogs trainer, hence he is professionally experienced in training of dogs for official use. In fact, Rottweiler is a police dog, with other breeds used for various purposes. Thanks to his knowledge and expertise, our dogs now receive not only basic but advanced training as well, so we also train them for attacks and defence or owner protection, and they enjoy it.
Marina, Slaviša’s daughter, simply adores dogs, and they adore her as well. The connection she established with dogs is something you need to see to believe, hence that is where her success with dog presentations in exhibitions comes from.
These two trainers are the factor thanks to which our dog training was brought to a whole new level and why our dogs enjoy their training!
Basic training
It is important here to distinguish between basic and advanced training.
Basic training entails commands which make a dog social and well behaved. That is what most owners want, and it usually consists of commands such as sit, lay down, come, wait, walk next to my leg, etc.
On the other hand, advanced training includes training dogs for official use by the police or army, as guide dogs, mascots, etc. Some of the skills required by dogs in such cases are fighting, communication, detection and tracking, scouting, guarding, law enforcement, drug and explosives detection, intimidation, and many more.
Numerous books have already been written on how to train a dog, yet it is enormously difficult to summarise such a high volume of literature into several paragraphs. Here in Fere Perfectum German Rottweiler dog kennel, we combine the tradition with our previous experience, and that is what gives us kudos and what established us as a leader in the field of dog breeding in the region.
Socialisation of dogs and their familiarization with human contact starts from the very first days. However, it takes at least three more months before a puppy is fit for some basic training. It includes commands such as sit and lay down, and walking on a leash. More advanced training is not recommended before a dog is at least one year old, as that is when they understand how defence or protection function.
Bear in mind that the training process is not a simple task and is highly influenced by the relation between a dog and his owner. It had not happened rarely that a dog in training is perfectly obedient, yet with a new owner he simply neglects some commands. A simple explanation why this occurs is the miscommunication between the owner and the dog.
We understand this may pose a serious problem in the long run, so we switched our training from human language to body language. Human language is a trait of people, hence a dog, although he or she may react to words, does not understand them. Dogs listen for pitch and observe body language that accompany them. That is how they draw conclusions, and perform accordingly. In essence, training Rottweilers to understand body language rather than human language has also proven as a better solution as it also has no side effects when a dog moves from one owner to the other.
The more time a dog spends with his new family, playing and learning, the better their communication is going to be, and the dog will gain more confidence with the family.
We provide our Rottweiler puppies with solid ground for further training, and once they move to their new owners they can easily recall their training and continue where they stopped.
Rottweilers are ranked among the 10 smartest dog breeds. Their training is smooth, as they enjoy learning new skills and tricks. This is particularly evident with German Rottweilers. See it yourself – once you get a German Rottweiler and start training him to be your faithful companion, you will never need another dog again.
Advanced training
Along with basic training, here at Fere Perfectum German Rottweiler dog kennel (FP GR DK linkuj ka početnoj strani) we engage in advanced training as well, including defence or attack techniques, or training dogs for official use exams. The latter training can only take place once a dog reaches a certain age limit, and it depends on basic training and dog character as well.
There are many dog training methods, and each trainer will claim his is the best. We cannot say that, as it is highly subjective. Here is what we have used so far and what gave us results – you draw the conclusions.
1: Mechanical method
A dog receives various sensations to cause him unpleasantness or pain if he fails to execute the command.
2: Flavor reinforcement method
A dog receives a treat if he executes the command with no enforcement of any kind.
A slight modification of this method is to accompany it with clicker method, as it proved well in when we cannot immediately reward a dog for his obedience. The principle behind the clicker method is to link the treat with the sound. When the dog performs a command, what comes immediately afterwards is the click sound, and then the treat after it. This method is especially useful in long-distance training.
3: Imitation method
The imitation method relies on dog imitation of other dogs that have already been trained. It is often used with shepherd dogs.
4: Contrastive method
The contrastive method is the combination of mechanical and flavor reinforcement method.
Fere Perfectum advanced Rottweiler training method
Here in Fere Perfectum dog kennel, we are absolutely against causing any pain to our dogs, so can you guess what methods do we use in training our purebred German Rottweilers?
The absolute winner of our training techniques is the flavor reinforcement method combined with the clicker method. That is the training technique dogs simply work best with, and the only method that makes them impatient to have a new lesson. This method has also proven not to interfere with the dog’s character, which may happen with young dogs when they are trained with other training techniques.
Exhibitions
There are several reasons why we gladly participate in exhibitions.
1: Tremendous experience
Firstly, dog exhibitions themselves are invaluable experience for both the owners and the dogs, and should be visited whenever possible.
There is no better opportunity than an exhibition where a dog can show his or her potentials, nor is there a better way to see them around unfamiliar dogs or unfamiliar people.
2: Comparisons
Secondly, we use dog exhibitions to compare our champion Rottweiler dogs with those of other owners and track improvement that way.
Who won last year? Who won now? What was different in those two dogs? What was the same? Does my dog possess the same grace? Is he or she better in any segment than the winner? Can I improve him or her somehow?
These, and many others, are the questions we all have in mind when taking our dogs for exhibitions, and hopefully, we do get the answers to them.
3: Trade fair
And last but not least, dog exhibitions are a trade fair, i.e. it is a collection of the newest information on cynology in general and Rottweilers in particular.
We learn new tricks of the trade, we exchange experiences and stories, we establish connections, and we gain skills and knowledge.
National and international exhibitions
Exhibitions we participated in so far were mostly national, and international in terms of the neighbouring countries; but soon we plan on taking a new leap with exhibiting our dogs in Germany. That is as far as it can get for Rottweilers – that is where they originate from, that is where their cradle is, and that is why German exhibitions weigh the most. Only the best participate in exhibitions in Germany, and many do not even dare to try.
However, exhibiting dogs in Germany has two sides to the coin.
1. Heavy competition
Firstly, German dog exhibitions mostly attract dog breeders from Germany, especially when it comes to Rottweilers.
There is no strict rule on who can apply, but many breeders from abroad cannot allow themselves the luxury of investing as much effort as required without any success warranties.
2. High quality dogs
Secondly, since only top-notch breeders from Germany participate in such exhibitions, it raises expectations, hence a dog breeder from abroad should display a high-quality competitor dog so as to justify the participation.
It is somewhat unnerving for most breeders and one of the reasons why it is so difficult knowing what a pureblood Rottweiler should behave and look like.
Exhibitions criteria
However, as far as it can get when it comes to determining exhibitions criteria in dog appearance and performance, there are some rule of thumb guidelines.
Physical and character traits
As with all beauty pageants, a dog must be:
- anatomically flawless;
- physically attractive, as if a movie actor;
- with short and glossy hair;
- with properly-shaped skull and head;
- with his ears in line with the top of the head and adding width to head size;
- with firm yet light pace emitting pride and grace.
In plain words, it is a dog that once you see him (or her) you can say it has that something special, it is the one that will stick out from the rest.

Special Rottweiler breeding males and females
Understandably, such dogs are relatively difficult to breed, hence here in Fere Perfectum Rottweiler dog kennel we pay special attention to the choice of breeding males for our Rottweiler females, and we give our best in choosing such bloodlines to produce 100% quality dogs.
That is our humble contribution to supporting the production of high quality dogs, enhancing what we have already produced by going a step further.
